Advancing clock by 23 hours for end of summer time. Checklist: 1. Wind the Going, Trinity and St John's trains by 8 turns to compensate for the loss of one day of running (note, Quarters will be silenced so they don't operate) 2. At 9.59am be ready with a magnet to hold up the escapement-release lever as soon as the Trinity Strike begins. Now insert the Quarters silencing washer. Insert the Strike silencing spacer as soon as the St John's strike ends. 3. Watch and wait. It'll take about 30 minutes to get to 10.30am (listen out for the silent hours clicking 10). Remove the magnet and let the clock run normally. It's OK to overshoot slightly. 4. The pendulum may need a push if the escapement isn't ticking. Now fine tune the clock by stopping the fly (or advancing it) until the time is correct. 5. Remove the Strike silencing spacer (so that the clock will strike 11am). Wait until after the 11am strike before removing the Quarters silencing washer - this will ensure that the Quarters start again in sync at 11.15am. 6. This is optional, but you may wish to reset the value of last_drift so that the clocklogger is reporting the correct time. To do this, login to pi-clock1 and open a command window. cd clocklogger/data, sudo systemctl stop clocklogger.service , nano last_drift (change the value to the current drift, nearest 1 second), ^x to save and exit, sudo systemctl start clocklogger.services. 7. Other miscellaneous things to do a couple of weeks in advance: ask Chaplains to order coffee and croissants 10am in the ante-chapel; ask the Communications Manager to advertise the event in Trinfo and the Chaplains in the Chapel weekly missive
